Supernovae provide powerful and direct evidence of an accelerating universe. Our on-going survey for supernovae uses the Hubble Space Telescope to constrain the properties and constituents of the Universe.
The HST-SN surveys have also provided constraints on the cosmological history of supernova explosion rates, providing an alternative measure of the cosmic star formation history, and insight on the plausible explosion mechanisms for Type Ia progenitor stars.
